This post is a part of Sunday Setlists. Check out what everyone else is doing Sunday morning!
This morning was the first morning I got truly frustrated. The sound system would NOT cooperate. I am in no way a trained sound engineer, which added to the frustration. I finally figured out the problem after the first two songs, better late then never I guess.
Our setlist:
For Who You Are (Sampson) – E. I usually play this in D or Eb. I like it in E, it’s in my range to really belt it out.
Reign in Us (Starfield) – A. Nate led this song this morning. It’s brand new for us, and I think the general opinion of it was positive. It’s really catchy (I swear that bridge has been in my dreams this week). We did a shortened version this time- C, V1, PC, C, C.
10 minute break to dismiss kids and get coffee, etc. This is a new thing this week. I liked the break today, I got a drink of water and fixed the !#@#$ sound system.
Holy is the Lord (Tomlin) – D. I like playing this song in D, but I think it’s too low. I will capo it next time, it felt like the song was dragging- there wasn’t a lot of ‘oomph’ in the chorus because it was lower in peoples range.
Unchanging (Tomlin) – D. On the other hand, this song in this key is a great fit for us.
Reign in Us/The Stand (medley: Starfield/Hillsong) – A. Loved the addition of the chorus of the Stand following the bridge of Reign in Us. It helped to group a song people really knew with something new. I will be leading Reign in Us again next week- for me, I will be playing in F, in a sweet arrangement I’ve cooked up!
Let My Words Be Few (Redman) – E. A classic song. And there’s a reason it’s a classic song. It’s really good. LOVE the augmented chord. I love me some dissonance.
Overall, besides the sound issues, today was good. I felt like I could have taken more time on some of the songs, but I felt like people were connecting with God regardless of my insufficiency. Praise God.

Was the 10 minute break for everyone or just the musicians? That’s an interesting place for a break.
We did Reign in us on today as well. Thanks for posting the list and keep up the great work. Awesome stuff here.
You choose your songs well. I like your set lists and how you arrange them. Good stuff!

Haven’t done Let my words be few in a really long time. That’s a good one. How did Reign in Us go?
Best augmented chord song ever: “When I Grow Up”, by the Beach Boys
@bradhafnersfa I guess I could have explained that better. We did two songs with all the children in the room, and then we took 10 minutes for coffee, parents taking their kids to the classrooms, meet and greet, etc.
@David Lindner Reign in Us went really well. Better than I expected even. It has a melody that is easy to sing and remember which helps a lot.
gotta love the augmented chord. it’s also a scripture song. one of my all time favorites.
Third Day’s Blessed Assurance is on “Next Door Savior”! A various artist CD based on a book by Max Lucado.
Have Fun,
