First, let me start by saying that leading worship in heels is NOT awesome.
We had a great morning. Not without some glitches (my choice of footwear one of them. ouch.).
We started out with the kids in the room and this week we brought out a box of rhythm instruments for the kids to play. It was great to see the kids involved, they were all so excited! They were also all directly in front of me playing completely out of time. It took a lot of concentration to keep myself on beat. After the two songs we let the kids out to their classes and had our speaking time. We did four more songs after the speaking. The morning looked like this:
Blessed Be Your Name (Redman) – G
Your Grace is Enough (Maher) – E
Speaking
Hungry (Scott) – C I haven’t led this in years, but it’s been on my heart for weeks.
Reign in Us (Starfield) – F This is our second week doing this new song. I led it in a better key for myself and changed up the arrangement with some fancy chords and a good groove. I felt it really connected with the theme for the morning (we are the Church).
How Great is Our God (Tomlin, etc) – G Something really clicked on this one. It felt like the atmosphere in the room hit a new level.
The Doxology (Tommy Walker arrangement) – D I grew up with this arrangement and use it every time we do The Doxology. I learned guitar playing Tommy Walker, Fred Hammond, Israel Houghton, etc. I hope as our worship team grows we’ll be able to use more of that style of worship tunes.
After the service a few people that have started coming regularly came up (separately) and wanted to know if they could get involved. I’m really excited to get together with them and get some new musicians in the rotation. This is VERY exciting! This morning it was me leading and playing guitar and Josh singing tenor, alternating playing guitar and djembe.

Hey,
Sounds like a great service, that’s very cool about the kids! I know what you mean about footwear – I wore some boots that I love, but they are worn out … the soles are shot, and the heels squeek … and I was hurting big-time by the end of the 1st service!
We also did “Your Grace is Enough” and “How Great is Our God”, today!
Thanks for being a part of Sunday Setlists!

Reign in Us is next on our new songs to learn list. I’ve got about three new ones that I wrote in line, so it’s going to be a busy winter. Good songs. Thanks for sharing.
No heels? hehehe. It took me a while to get used to playing/singing in heels. Stepping on a cord can throw off my entire balance!
I can’t do it! I guess I’m just not that talented or coordinated, leading in heels is a no for me. lol
