Graces #6

1. A real vacation. Not worrying about anything. The biggest
decision I have to make today is to drive North or South.

2. Become very fairly certain of my allergy problem… and it’s NOT
coffee. Hooray!

3. Wearing a nice white sweater for the first time, and I’ve gotten
through at least 2 hours so far with no stains!

Graces #5

1. Getting over the really hard part of my diet. I still want food I
can’t have but I don’t feel like death. It’s a vast improvement.
Also, this is making me learn how to cook new and different things,
which I always like.
2. Taking two days away from everything and everyone to spend with Bryce.
3. New clothes. A bit materialistic, but I really like a new sweater
once in a while.

Sunday Setlists 09/06/09

Well, HELLO fall! Woke up this morning to a torrential down pour. Being a holiday weekend I had some trouble finding musicians, but a friend stepped in at the 11th hour (no, seriously, he called me at 11 last night!) and we had a small group – guitar, vocals and a djembe. Here’s our set:

1. Unchanging (Tomlin)
2. Blessed Be Your Name (Redman)
3. Never Let Go/Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus (Crowder)
4. Beautiful, Scandalous Night (Daugherty & Hindalong)
5. Holy, Holy, Holy (Arr by Sufjan Stevens)
6. The Doxology (Arr by Tommy Walker)

Our one tech issue was that we overloaded a breaker in the school and half the cafeteria/auditorium we meet in lost power during our rehearsal. While Tom and the school employee searched for the breaker box we did some acoustic rehearsal. We got done on time and everything was great for the service.

This post is a part of this.

Graces #4

1. 15 days off in a row
2. Experiencing a place I’ve never been.
3. Transition weather – wearing jeans, a hooded sweatshirt and flip
flops. Or, shorts, a sweater and flats.

Sunday Setlist 8/30/09

So, terribly late in posting this. I’ve been busy this week preparing for the next two weeks – to celebrate Bryce and I’s 5 year anniversary, we are going on a trip. First we’re heading out to the Oregon coast, and then flying up to Grande Prairie, Alberta to stay with his sister and her family. I’ve got a lot of work to do before I leave.

Last Sunday was the fifth Sunday of August – so we, as a church, had breakfast together. To account for that we had a shorter set:

1. Glory to God Forever (Fee, Beeching)
2. For Who You Are (Hillsong)
3. Here I Am to Worship (Hughes)
4. Holy, Holy, Holy (As arranged by Sufjan Stevens)

Overall, it was great. I was really worn out going into the morning because one of my oldest friends had gotten married the day before- which means I was busy for the two weeks prior to the wedding as well 🙂 This was our second time singing Glory to God Forever and I think that it is really catching on well. I chose other really well known songs other than that and the participation level of the crowd was really encouraging.

Grace In Small Things #3

Today hasn’t been the greatest day- lots of emails, bad news, and day three of this allergy elimination diet (meaning: I can’t eat anything good). I’m trying to see the graces today.

1. Perfect bike riding weather. Slight breeze, warm sun.
2. Books that are still good a second or third time.
3. A really good free-range, organic
steak.
4. My sweet dog Margot who always is in a good mood even when I’m not.

Sunday Setlists 08/23/09

I am in the middle of a super busy two weeks, so I’ll keep this post short. Sunday was a small team – myself on guitar, a djembe and a vocalist. This was the first time we’ve done Glory to God Forever, and it went well. I think it will find a home in our rotation. It’s a fun, upbeat, catchy song. I am usually drawn toward more contemplative stuff, so I intentionally picked this song to add.

1. Glory to God Forever (Fee, Beeching)
2. All Creatures of Our God and King
3. Sweetly Broken (Riddle)
4. Beautiful, Scandalous Night (Daugherty, Hindalong)
5. Overcome (Egan)
6. Arise, My Soul, Arise

As always, a part of this.
