My attempt at 100 pic Friday …

Which actually turned into a 63 pic weekend! Thanks to twitter and @joshuawhite I tried to take 100 pictures with my iPhone on Friday. That didn’t quite work – but here’s my results anyway 🙂

Some are pretty cool, and some suck. On about half I used some effects with an app I have called Camera Bag. Most of them are taken on the way up to and in Seattle, WA, where we attended some Red Sox games and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

Here are a few of my favorites. To see the rest click on any picture and it’ll take you to my flickr page.

Quick Post #1

I’ve downloaded the wordpress app to my iPhone. This is my idea: to do quick posts when the inspiration hits. Here is my very first:

Those guys/gals who hang outside the library, coffee shops and new seasons annoy the crap out of me with their clipboards and incessant interuptions. You know who I mean- they want your signature to legalize pot. Or for any ballot measure. These guys certainly are worse than people at kiosks in the mall but not nearly as bad as the men in the robes selling books downtown.

Don’t make eye contact. Say nothankyou and walk away. Quickly.

Thanks inProgress! I love any chance I can get to gripe. Here are 10 things I don’t enjoy:

1. Being late. Myself, or others.
2. Getting stuck behind someone going 10 miles under the speed limit.
3. Last minute changes to my schedule. I don’t deal well with on-the-fly situations. I’m boring like that.
4. Anytime I go to a breakfast potluck/function, everything has eggs in it. I know it’s not anyone’s fault I am allergic to eggs but it’s no fun eating bananas when everyone else is feasting.
5. Dishes, laundry, and all housework in general. I hate living in a dirty house, so I do it, but I complain the whole time. Just ask Bryce, he’ll tell you it’s true.
6. Taking things personally – I do it ALL THE TIME. Silly things, big things, I take it all personally. I wish I didn’t, and I’m working on it, but it stinks.
7. The fact I can’t get our PS3 to connect to the internet. Wired, wireless- I can’t get it to work.
8. Dieting.
9. Being cold.
10. And finally, people who complain. Ha!

Getting in the Christmas Spirit

I’ve finally admitted to myself, and the world, that I am full of Christmas spirit. My husband however, is appalled by this fact, telling me (as I unpacked a bag of cinnamon pine cones) :

“You tricked me! If I would have known this five years ago, I never would have married you!”

Of course, he was joking. But he is very confused at the constant playing of Christmas music, decorations, and just general seasonal happiness I am radiating. I think he’s worried that I’m turning into my grandmother- literally she has THREE trees every year exploding with ornaments, a huge little town on cotton snow, mulitple nativity scenes, a four foot santa statue, and a ton more little trinkets dating back to the 1960s. It’s insane.

Here’s what I’ve got up so far- well within the realm of acceptability, right?

dog and tree

I am trying assure him that I still have some sense of taste left. He’s trying to deter me from hanging lights on our house, but I am going to sneak them on when he’s gone this evening. He he he. Or, I mean, Ho ho ho!

Dry Socket

I would rather rip my head off than go through this again.

It all started Monday- my mouth started hurting, mostly when I spoke or was chewing. I ignored it. Monday night I woke up at about 1:45 with extreme pain in the left side of my face. Like someone hit me in the head with a baseball bat. I was up for three hours with a hot washcloth on my face.

Somehow I made it to work yesterday on my bike. The pain kept getting worse and worse, if you can believe that. I started crying and called the dentist out of desperation- they squeezed me in, thankfully. I rode my bike to the dentist where they squirted medicine into the holes… and onto my exposed BONE. That’s why it hurt so bad- my blood clots got dislodged and my bone, on both lower sides of my jaw was exposed to everything. OUCH. After they cleaned out the wounds they stuffed medicated gauze into them and told me to come back in two days to get it changed out.

That procedure was by far the worst pain I have ever been in. However, I was so desperate for relief at that point that I was willing to endure it. I sat in the chair with my eyes closed, mouth open, and tears running down my face getting my hair all wet. I was extremely embarrassed- I’m a grown woman!

Thankfully, today I am feeling so much better. The gauze is protecting my bones and nerves and the vicodin doesn’t hurt either.

Yesterday morning I went in for oral surgery. I was very nervous, I really dislike dentists. Everything went off without a hitch, I got sent home with my every caring sister @lham, and she stayed to take care of me even though her little 1 year old baby was tired and cranky.

I’m doing okay today, thanks to the narcotics and having time off work. I’m just glad I don’t ever have to do this again.
